My Wrinkled Easter Morning
One Easter morning many years ago, I was in frantic crazy mom mode trying to get everybody ready for church – all dressed up in our Easter best. As I was rushing to put on my gold necklace, the cross pendant shot off the end of the chain. ZING! Right across the room. It was nowhere to be found.
This God of ours, who does enjoy a bit of irony sometimes, had me literally on my knees, on Easter morning, searching for the cross. I caught what he was trying to tell me as I found the tiny cross on the floor. Then I stayed on my knees and prayed. For forgiveness mainly. That morning I had been so concerned about smooth hair, clean faces and pressed new Easter outfits, I had forgotten all about what, and who, I should have been focusing on that day.
You see, God doesn’t want you in your Easter best. He wants you.
God wants us to seek Him. He wants us to long for Him and to look for Him in unexpected places. Sometimes God can seem so far away…when we are busy and rushed, drained physically, spiritually, emotionally…and all the time He is right there. Just look for Him. Seek Him. Cry out to Him.
And He will answer you.
Mary searched for Jesus on that first Easter morning. She thought she just found a cold, empty tomb. What she really found was a Living, Breathing, Loving Savior.
Will you seek Him this Easter? Will you risk wrinkling your dress or getting a run in your stockings and get on your knees? Will you praise Him for who He is and what He has done for you?
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
