How it all began for us - the Deer Mountain Media Story
My husband and I were shopping for a new camper of all things. The abrupt sales girl was petite in stature and had a short “I’m not from Wisconsin” haircut. Her accent was thick and her name was Claudia or Helga or something very, very German.
As we got further along in the process, she took down our name. “Rehberg”, she said, “do you know what that means?”
“Your name, in German. Do you know what it means?” she persisted. Intimidated now, I must have shrugged my shoulders to indicate my ignorance.
"Deer Mountain.”
As she spoke, her demeanor softened. Or perhaps it was me who changed.
Deer Mountain. With those two words, so much made sense. Our family had always been drawn to nature. Majestic wildlife. The challenge of climbing. (Okay, it’s a rock wall, but give me my metaphor here.) Even half of the properties we owned up to that point had “deer” or “doe” in the street name.
Deer Mountain. The words settled between the cracks of who I was and who I wanted to be. Between where we’d been as a family and where together we were headed.
The name Deer Mountain Media for me is a reminder. A reminder of where I’ve been and where I am going. A reminder of what can happen with the support of family. And even a reminder that I don’t know everything. It takes the work I’ve always done, the work I’ve always loved to do, and the people I’ve always sought to help, and gathers them together in a way that finally, finally makes sense.
For my clients, those who trust me with the message of their business or organization, I hope to provide that same level of clarity that I felt in that moment. Clarity that helps you see who you are and who you want to be. Clarity that helps you define your message and share it with the world. Clarity for the world to see you, know you, and want to join you in your journey.
